The dissolution of marriage is, in essence, a legal procedure that dissolves a marriage before either party passes away. The parties' marriage is ended by the divorce. The court and the parties must agree on how to divide the parties' assets and debts as well as how to manage child custody and placement in order to accomplish this. Each spouse is supposed to shoulder half of the marriage's debts and be entitled to half of the marriage's assets, under state law. Non-marital property will remain with the owner after the divorce if it is kept apart. Non-marital property is everything that one of the parties inherits or gets from someone else.
